Breath
We listen to your voices, we wait for your breath
For when your breath adds to the air, we are often there
You hear a familiar buzz, you hear a familiar whine
Many of you are inclined to move away
As in you do not want to stay put
For you know if you do not show, a need to proceed away, the
Mosquitoes of the Land want you to understand, meal time is any time you’re
around
We like your sound, we like your breath
We like to hang around, no matter what you do
And we the Mosquitos of the Land want you to understand, we
realize we’re a pest, we realize you would like to request, stay away, do
not come back any day
Picky
When the winds really blow, we decide to go
For the is no way for us to control where we go, for the
wind shows us a push or two
And we just can’t get to you
We know you’re disappointed, we know you wonder where we’ve
gone
We do not belong in windy, cold conditions
We’re picky that way
But if we are here to stay on a particular day, when its
warm and moist, these are the days of our choice
We don’t care for dryness, we don’t care for lack of Water
Now some of you seem to forget when you leave a pail out
and the Water builds up, that’s a perfect habitat for us
So, we don’t fuss we stick around
Blood
We the Mosquitos of the Land want you to understand, you’re
not the only ones we go after
We go after many species on the Land do you understand,
we just don’t want you feeling left out
Your blood is what we’re after
We don’t take much
For if you were to touch us, you’d realize we’re really
quite small
But we are here to suggest to you, in the Fall we’re
pretty well gone
But in Spring this is a time we start to sing, when the
weather gets warmer, but it’s still a bit wet
Survivors
We are here to say to you my dears we are survivors
Try, try, try as you might, we will find another way no
matter how you fight
For we adapt
We adapt we adjust and that’s a must
Our flight patterns are never in a straight line
We are inclined to change it up
Our eyes sight helps thank you very much, unlike you
humans our eyes are all around
A Chain
We realize you humans don’t care for us much, but you need
to get in touch with things, there’re other species that eat us
We are just one species in a chain
If we were not to remain, that would affect other species
So, you need to get in the lane and see what that looks like,
diversity is the name of the game
As one species disappear, other species do not cheer
For the loss of one, is loss of many
For we look out for each other in a manner of speaking
When one in the chain disappears for good, it has a
ripple effect
You humans should know that by now
Most of you see us as a pest, most of you see us as annoying,
be well aware my dears we want to make perfectly clear, if we depart so do
other species that depend on us
Reason For Being
Each species on the face of the Earth has a reason for
being
You humans maybe not seeing their reason for being, for
you do not live within their reality
Unless of course you choose to study us
For those who choose to study us, you realize it takes
time, you realize it take dedication
You, human species, may not be aware of many other species
on the face of the Earth, but they’re aware of you
For many species know your presence through your scent, many
species know your presence through your vibration, many species know your
presence through hearing, through sight, through might, through telepathic
communication, with others
Many species share, they declare guess who’s in town
Nothing Personal
Perhaps it’s a good idea if you don’t stick around
Now some of us choose to stand our ground, whether you
humans choose to stick around for we are just that way
Now some species choose to blend in, step into the
background
Some species choose to stand up and be annoying
For we the Mosquitos of the Land want you to understand,
it’s nothing personal it’s the job that we need to do
For biting you has to do with our survival
Memorable
We realize you’re not just annoyed by the sound, you’re not
just annoyed by the bite, you are also annoyed by the leftover effect, the
itch
You might say we are memorable
A Chunk
Now we Mosquitos are a bit bossy, we mosquitos are a bit
particular, but the temperature has to be right so does the wind
So does the moisture do you get the picture
We’re fussy bunch
But you have a hunch it doesn’t seem to matter
For there are days that you could display the fact that we
have taken a chunk just too much
Remembered
We know you want to forget us, we know you want to
pretend we’re not there
We will not disappoint you we will show up we will bring
our entire family with us
For we try not to disappoint
For we must anoint you, so we will be remembered
We don’t want to be forgotten
Story About You
Is that a Mosquito tale or is that a tall tale
We avail ourselves for what ever tale you choose to tell
Spread the wealth let it grow
For who knows perhaps we too will have a story about you
