Scurry, scurry, scratch, scratch

We are attached, we are separate

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, we too have a role to play

Now we recognize you humans would like to say, stay away from my house, live outside

 

Shore up Your Home

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, we get the premise, we get the reason why

But we the Mice of the Land are here to say to you, all you need to do is shore up your habitat, shore up your home

And if all the crevices are filled in, we’ll leave you alone

We like you, are looking for a place to stay

And you like us are here to suggest to us find another place, go away from my house

 

Survive

You see the evidence, you see the plan, but you don’t understand

We are all about survival, we’re all about adaptation

And as your world changes, so does ours

All we’re trying to do is survive

 

Plus

Now for others to survive who live on us, we come with that plus

For we are not a predator, we are a prey

 

Take it Away

But we Mice are here to say what you humans leave lying around, it is a precious sound to our ears, it is a precious scent to our noses

If you don’t want to be exposed to our noses, our or sense of hearing, clear up your mess

Don’t leave a mess if you have excess, take it away

 

Excess

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, we are not here to make your life a mess

We are just chewing up what we call the excess, what’s left behind

Now some of you have learned to adapt, some of you have become wily to our ways

And those are the homes, we do not stay in

So, if you want to make it your day, so we will stay away, look around for entrances, look around for food

 

Gatherers

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, we are gatherers, we accumulate stuff

Not too much, unlike many of you

Look at your habits, see what you see

Do you need all that stuff, is it really for you

Or do you just like to gather it, place it just in case

In case of what we might ask

Is that a special task

 

Success

Yes, my dears we the Mice of the Land want to understand, why do you accumulate so much excess

Is it a sign of you showing your success

To have excess

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, just because you gather, just because you keep, does not make you any better off

You may lie in a loft up above and look down below, and say woe, look at all that stuff

Do you give it away, do you share it all round

Or do you just like the sound of it, look at all that stuff, I must be a success

I need to have this excess

 

Why

We the Mice of the Land want to try to understand, why

Why do you have an excess pile so high

It almost reaches the sky

Will you be able to open the door, will you be able to escape

Will there be room for your birthday cake

Or will you decide to undertake a different avenue

 

Release

As in decide to little by little release the pile

And then smile that space starts to grow

And you know what, you start to feel better, you start to feel a released

Does your happiness increase

That depends on you

 

Open Your Heart

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, having an excess of things will not make you happy, having an excess of things will not make you sad

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, what you give to another, you will discover opens your heart

So, start to open your heart, let the joy fill in the space

And then you can trace a rising of the lips

And along with the rising of the lips, a lightness in your step, a release

Increase that release and let it go

 

Give

For we the Mice of the Land want you to understand, what you give to another, you give to yourself

So, give

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, what you give to another does not have to have value, as in you didn’t have to purchase it

You could give your time, you could give your patience

You could give a listening ear

You could give encouragement and guidance

You could give a place to live

You could give a beautiful sight in the night or the day

You could give a meal, we are here to say

Or you could give the makings of a meal, along the way

Or you could say, how can I help you today

 

Reach Out

You could reach out to another and discover they don’t reach back

Or you could try a different track, reach out to another on day-to-day basis

And see or have them see you are there, you are present, you are going no where

You could give them a lift, you could give them a ride

And deep down inside, you know it’s right, you know it’s okay

So, make today the day you choose to give

For those who feel they have nothing to give, try a smile, it’ll go a mile

You could make the difference in someone’s day

 

Presence

By simply saying, hey how are you

You have acknowledged their presence, you recognize their essence

As in you see them, you are aware they are there

That of course is different than a stare

For when you declare you notice someone, for some it’s like a gift, for some it’s like a shift

And if people don’t respond to you have patience, take your time

And be inclined to find another way

It could be as simple as say, have a good day

 

Belong

We the Mice of the Land want you to understand, there are many ways you can give to another

And the act of giving, is part of what living is all about

You don’t need to shout, you don’t need to sing

Just enjoy the ring, just enjoy the song

For everyone wants to feel they belong

So, lift up their song, show them you know

For a gift is a gift is a gift is a gift

Allow yourself to give

 

Rise

Rise to the surface, fall down again

You my dears let’s be clear, are a gift in and of itself

And as a gift you keep on giving

So, live your purpose, be who you are
