Breakdown
Blisters, blisters, blisters across the Land
Do you understand those blisters, do you see why they are
there
They are there for the purpose of breakdown, they are
there for the purpose of the Earth
For as each tree species falls to the ground of its own
accord, it has stored up nutrients
And within those stored nutrients, many species rely on
what is within
For a fallen tree in the forest has a purpose, you see
It is not about being messy, it is not about being
scattered
Perfect Spot
It is about landing in the perfect spot
The spot to allow a blister on the Land
The spot to allow other species to stand between
The spot where other species can find a home
The spot where other species gather, other species eat
And as the breakdown of the tree is complete, this
cycle will continue to complete again and again
Lie in Wait
We Grouse of the Land want you to understand, we lie in
wait
We anticipate a place for us to lie in wait, for we remain
close to the ground
It is our habitat
source, it is our feeding source
It gives us a form of camouflage
For although we fly, we are a rather shy bird
We remain close to the ground, we listen intently for sounds
Beat of the Ground
As we not only hear those sounds, but we feel those
sounds
For the beat of the ground that absorbs your feet, meets
our feet and our ears
It would appear we have two methods of knowing you are
around
You may be soundless, as you walk through the undergrowth
But we the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, you
carry a rhythm you carry a beat
And that rhythm and that beat is your signature it is
complete
No matter how quietly you walk upon the ground, you are
heard, you are felt
Blur
We the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, we like to
remain attached to the ground, but when we hear a sound, when we hear a
rhythm, we are bound rise up in a blur
This rising this blur, does occur in quick succession
You who is walking across the Land will often be
surprised, but what meets your senses first, is the sound, is the flurry
For you recognize quickly, we are in a hurry to get away
Now some of you are attracted to this sound and you decide
to hang around
Our Groove
We the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, if you
hang around, we will move
Unless of course you start to understand our groove, our
blister
For as a Flighted One, we are here to say, all bird species
upon this day, have a groove, have a blister
We too have Signature Moves, we too have Signature Spaces,
for as we grace ourselves upon the Land we want you to understand, each of us
has our own space, each of us has our own understanding
We in particular like to remain, close to the Land
Mate
There are times when we also want you to understand, we
attempt to communicate with a possible mate
And in this time and place we grace you with a different
sound
And that sound is like a hollow drum
It starts in a hum and then goes to a beat
And when it is complete we relax a moment and try again
Place
We the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, all
species have a place
Whether they are new or old to the Land, they have a
place
All you humans have to do is understand that place,
understand that new way of being
For some of you are seeing new species, as Invaders
But we the Grouse of the Land want you to understand,
like you they are trying to survive
Therefore, instead of referring to them as Invasive Species,
not belonging
You will eventually need to change your song
For each new species that attempts to try to belong, in a
new habitat, in a new place
Is trying to do just that, survive
Evolve
New Species are not better or worse, they are just different
They’re learning a new way, they’re learning about a new
habitat
Their practices may be different, their ways of
understanding may cause you to scratch your head
We the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, much has
changed since the first species of the Land chose to evolve
All species are asking you to do just that, evolve,
embrace
As in when new species enter your realm, instead of
shunning them, instead of driving them away, try to understand, why they
chose to stay
Is it their habitat the original one that has gone, is it
the climate that has changed, has there been a rearrangement where they live
Where Would You Choose to Go
They are giving you a way to look beyond, and they
are asking you to do just that
If you were forced from your habitat, if you were forced
from your home, where would you choose to go
And would you just pick one place or would you spread
your family around
Would each family member become like a Sounding Board
Would you communicate with each other and question the
decisions they made
Would you persuade another to join you instead
And then would each one of you be led in the same direction,
to have that connection with family
We leave that question in your mind of minds, for all
species are inclined as families to gravitate together
There are those close connections, there are those familial
understandings
We the Grouse of the Land want you to understand, all
species should be welcome
For in order for us to survive on the Land we need to
understand, what the Land offers each of us
And as a plus what we can offer the Land
For we need you to understand, it is a give and take, it
is a reciprocal plan
For without the give and take, if it’s take, take, take,
we want you to understand, that won’t work
Newcomers
New species are near, I hear a sound I’ve never heard
before
Should I explore, should I observe
Or should I remain secure
Or should I complain, should I tell everybody
Should I say it’s just not the same anymore
New View
We the Grouse of the Land want all of you to understand, all
newcomers to the Land will share a new view
Some will declare, this is how we used to do it
Some will declare, this is a strange place
Some will declare, let’s wait and see
Some will declare, how can I get involved in my community
Some will declare, but they’ll never see me
Some will declare, I’ll make sure they see me
Some will declare, I will be there watching, waiting, learning,
as much as I can
Understand the Rhythm
For in order for me to be a part of this new Land, I need
to understand the rhythm, I need to understand the beat
For by understanding the rhythm and understanding the beat,
you start to feel more complete, you start to feel more connected
And although at first you feel somewhat rejected, you try
and try and try again
For in the end, if you’re patient, if you give it time, the
species of the Land are more inclined to take a shine to you
Would it be overt, if I show up in a skirt
Would it be overt, if I skirt a topic or two
Would it be best, if the dress looks the same, or will I
have to explain, why I wear what I
wear
Would I need to declare, I am worth seeing
Or what I need to say upon this day that what you value,
what you think you know, is a way of going slow, is a way of not seeing
Open That Door
Do I need to open up that door, for you do not want to go
there
Or do I need to declare, I’m willing to share, if you are
too
I am part of the stew, I am part of the mix
It may not be a stew you’re used to, it may not be a stew
you are familiar with, but let me enlighten you, let you try it on
For you don’t know a new song, unless you try it out
yourself
So be bold be bright, and shine your Light
I might look different, I might look the same
Same
And then again, does everyone in your family look the same, I
doubt it
Does everyone in your family think the same, I doubt it
We are but part of the Earthen Family
Therefore, my dears we the Newcomers, want to make it
perfectly clear, we see your fright, we see your fear
But my dears we want to make it perfectly clear, all we
want is to be a part of the Earthen Family
That’s not much
So, allow us to blend, allow us to send our rhythm
through
Allow us to give to you a thing or two
Part of what we give is a new understanding, part of what
we give is a new taste
In you hast for sameness, you will miss much
Different
For as we Grouse of the Land stand on the Land, we recognize
we are different from most birds
It has not occurred to us, to change to be the same
We provide a difference
We provide a need to understand, if you watch us, if you
wait and wonder why, we will not be shy, we will show you the way
All we ask of you is give us time to display why, give
us time to display our way of living
Is that asking too much
Part of the Stew
For the touch of another upon the Land, we want you to
understand, is part of the stew, is part of the mix
There are no tricks, it’s just that simple
The Earthen Family needs to learn to blend
For it is within the blending, we can resource our grace
And we can accept each other’s space
On the face of it, we all need each other, we just have
to discover why
So, you don’t have to be shy, you don’t have to remain
hidden
Allow new species to come through, to learn about you,
for you to learn about them
