We Merge with the Waters
Feathers slippery
across the waters
As we immerse our heads, we feel led down beneath
And as we submerge, we merge with the Waters, we merge
with the Earth
We go deeper still
Prize
When we get to the bottom of the hill, we see before us
our special prize
And in our eyes, it could be dinner, it could be lunch
We feast our eyes upon our prize
And it should be no surprise, that in no time at all
our prize is gone, our prize has disappeared
For we are here to say to you, we pursue our prize
until it goes through, down our gullet, into our tums
And that is the sum of it
Eyes of Another
Once we have received our prize, once we rise to surface,
we see the eyes of another, hungry still
And we will as most parents do, share part of our fill
As we release it from our bill, it penetrated deep
And eventually the little one will go to sleep
The nap will not be long, for before we sing our next
song, that bill will be open looking for more
You parents know the score
We the Winged Ones who rest upon the Waters, are here
to say to you, we live close to the Waters to pursue our favorite meal
Do we fly much, a little
But we like to be in touch with the Water
Call of Distress
We watch, we wait, we anticipate, is it time to go
beneath, is it time to lift aloft
Did we hear the little one cough, should we investigate or
should we congregate closer still
We recognize that shrill call
That is a call of distress, that is a call of I’m under duress
We the Loons of the Lake want each and every one of you to
undertake the role of the parent
Choose a Course
Each sound you hear you must interpret
Is that a sound of stress, or is that a sound of duress, or
is that a sound of I just want to express how I feel today
We the Loons of the Lake undertake this question period
And then of course we choose a course
We work in tandem, sometimes side by side, and other times
we must confide we’re a fair distance from each other
For we have discovered if we stay too close together, the
little one will not choose to learn
For the little one learns quickly what he or she can do
Separation of Sorts
And between you and me we the Loons of the Lake learn to
undertake a separation of sorts
This separation is obviously on a trial basis, for each
little one is different
We listen to the calls
We interpret their meaning
And little by little as they learn and little by little
as they improve, they set their own grove
We the Loons of the Lake want you to anticipate the making
of a parent does not happen all at once
For we are here to say, having an offspring upon one day,
does no just make you a parent, it just provides you with an offspring
We the Loons of the Lake wants you to attempt to anticipate,
all of the safety measures you need to put in place
And interlace that with all possibilities for each day
and each night
This is not to cause you fright, this is to educate you,
to prepare you for your role
Prepare You
For it is our goal to do just that prepare you
Be aware that each offspring will be different, each
offspring will have their own mind, you might be the kind to think they’ll be
just like you
But we the Loons of the Lake are here to help you, anticipate
they just might not make that passageway
We are here to say, they come with their own ways, they
come with their own knowledges
And as a parent part of your role is to unlock that
knowledge, unlock that ability
And if they’re not just like you, do not pursue that point,
let it go, help them to show you where they want to go
A Journey of Your Own
We the Loons of the Lake are here to ask you to attempt to
undertake a journey of your own, an investigation of sorts
And this journey and this investigation is for you to
observe, take a step back
And when you notice your offspring are on track, and they
need you no longer, allow those wings to open wide
Allow them to take off, to be who they’re going to be
But when you see they start to falter, alter your course
give them a soft-landing point
And as they repoint their goals, and as they repoint their
desires, allow them to go again, allow them to fail, allow them to succeed
For without them bleeding a little, they will not fully
understand
Parenthood
Therefore, we the Loons of the Lake want you as parents to
anticipate, this role of parenthood is not a straight line
We are more inclined to suggest it is more of a zig zag,
a back and forth, and up and down and some cases turning all around
It’s a journey of sorts, part of it’s yours and part of
it’s theirs
All you need to do is be aware you can’t always share,
you can’t always include
For no matter what you do, it’s not always fair
So, we the Loons of the Lake want you to anticipate there
will be many ups and downs in this parenting scheme
But from what we are seeing, it’s well worth it
Listen to Our Calls
We the Loons of the Lake are here for you to anticipate
listen to our calls from up close, listen to our calls from afar
We are here to share with you each call has a deep
meaning
Afterthought
We like to swim, we like to float
Now we are here to suggest to you, flying is a bit of an
afterthought
But then of course flying brought us to you
And let’s review if we want to go a distance, with
much persistence we need to get airborne
Wait
Rest in the silence, wait for our song
For you all belong
Sing your song sing, out with glee
And be proud of thee
No matter what other people see
